Day 1. Russian Atlantis

The Miller's Homestead
Ethnographic site at Gusiny Ostrov (Goose Island) Tourist Park This is a place where years of hard work and creativity have merged into perfect harmony. At the heart of the park stands a wooden windmill, lovingly reconstructed with meticulous attention to detail — just like the mills that once graced these lands in times gone by. Step inside and you'll be immersed in an atmosphere of days gone by, surrounded by a unique collection of peasant household items, where every object tells its own story and preserves a piece of the past. The well-equipped embankment and pier along the picturesque Volga River offer ideal conditions for leisurely walks and relaxation by the water. Here you can leave the city's hustle behind and fully immerse yourself in the surrounding nature. Here you'll find countless picturesque spots for photos, enjoy the beauty of nature, sample fresh-baked goods and fragrant tea from a genuine Russian samovar, and leave feeling refreshed and uplifted.

Bell Tower of St. Nicholas Cathedral
Enjoy a scenic boat trip across the Uglich Reservoir. By the 1940s, a program to artificially expand the Volga River had been approved, including the construction of hydroelectric power stations. When the Uglich Reservoir was created, the old part of the city was flooded and the cathedral was dismantled — but the bell tower survived. The market square, the ancient Holy Trinity Monastery, streets and settlements of the old town all disappeared beneath the water. The bell tower of St. Nicholas Cathedral was built in 1800. Today it presents a truly unique and remarkable sight.
