A.V. Anokhin National Museum of the Altai Republic

About

The city's main attraction — home to the famous "Ukok Princess" mummy. The best place to discover the shamanic traditions, customs, festivals, culture, and everyday life of the Altai people, as well as to see rare paleontological discoveries. The museum's most remarkable exhibit is the Ukok Princess mummy. According to local belief, she is the guardian of peace and a protector who prevented evil from entering our world from the underworld. The museum's collection contains more than 60,000 exhibits, ranging from paleontological finds to works by renowned Altai artists.
