Assumption Cathedral

About

Both an active church and a museum The cathedral was built in 1158–1160 by Prince Andrey Bogolyubsky. For a long time, it was the main church of Rus. It houses the oldest necropolis with burials of members of the princely family. The cathedral’s main treasure is the frescoes of the outstanding Russian icon painter Andrey Rublev. In 1408, he created the composition "Last Judgment," which has been well preserved.
