Decembrists Museum

One of Chita’s main attractions This is a branch of the Zabaykalsky Krai Local History Museum named after A. K. Kuznetsov. It opened in 1985 in the wooden building of the former Staro-Chita Mikhailo-Arkhangelsk Church. The museum is a unique architectural monument built in 1776. The building has two floors and is constructed from thick pine and larch logs without using nails. The museum exhibition occupies two floors. The first is dedicated to the history of the Decembrist movement, and the second to the lives of the Decembrists in penal servitude and exile settlement in Siberia. You will see archival documents, books, paintings, household items, and numerous personal belongings of the Decembrists.
