Smolensk is the diamond capital of Russia. Smolensk has its own diamond production; they have been manufactured at the Kristall plant since 1963. It is one of the largest in all of Europe and is well-known abroad. For example, Smolensk diamonds were used in the looks of Whitney Houston and Sir Elton John. You can find a variety of products in all local jewelry stores.
