About
Vologda is famous for its lace. It is not just a craft but an ancient art form of world renown. Works by local craftswomen have won awards at international exhibitions. The hallmark of Vologda lace is the special smoothness of its lines and the elegant patterns often called “non-melting frost.” The museum’s exhibition covers the history of lace-making from the 17th century to the present day. Here you can see peasant costumes with lace decorations and original works by famous lace-makers. On the first floor are exhibition halls, a café, and a shop selling unique handmade items — from phone cases to delicate shawls. You can also sign up for master classes and learn this ancient art.

Massandra Palace
If you want photos straight out of a European fairy tale, this is the place. The walls are built of stone, the towers are pointed, the balconies are curved, and the park looks like it’s from an engraving. The interiors are tastefully opulent: stucco, wood, fireplaces, tiles, oak paneling, and tiled stoves.

Prechistenskaya Embankment
