About
A scenic summit and the city's best panoramic viewpoint. At 641 metres above sea level, Mount Tugaya is one of the highest peaks surrounding Gorno-Altaysk, offering breathtaking views of the city and the river valleys below. One of the mountain's main attractions is the trail leading to the summit. A stone staircase of 750 steps takes visitors to the top. At the foot of Mount Tugaya is the Altai Ethnographic Museum of Culture, designed in the shape of a traditional Altai ail (nomadic dwelling). The museum regularly hosts guided tours, tastings of regional specialties, felt-making workshops, and cultural performances.
