About
One of the largest in the world The zoo spans 65 hectares and is home to 12,000 animals and birds from the North Pole to the African continent. The open enclosure with polar bears always attracts many visitors, especially during feeding times — it’s a real show. The zoo has many big cats: tigers, lions, leopards, jaguars, lynxes, manuls, and the extremely rare ligers. In a separate pavilion, there is an aviary-aquarium with playful Humboldt penguins. Novosibirsk Zoo also features a small village called Malye Khrusty, where domestic animals live. Visitors can buy feed and treat Cameroon goats, rabbits, and Vietnamese pigs. To learn more about the zoo’s inhabitants, you can book an overview or themed tour. The overview tour lasts about two hours and requires prior registration. On weekends, the zoo hosts “Kinoberloga,” a hall where educational films about animals are shown, free of charge. There is also a film lecture series titled “The History of the Novosibirsk Zoo.” In summer, attractions and a children’s railway operate. You can travel to the Zoo Station from Zaeltsovsky Park, combining several interesting locations.
