A building in the Art Nouveau style Famous opera singer Fyodor Ivanovich Shalyapin visited here with his family. The famous bass was charmed by Kislovodsk, often vacationed here, and gave concerts. Today, the literary-musical museum “Shalyapin’s Dacha” is one of the cultural centers of the city. Weekly, the museum hosts tours, film screenings, and musical programs. Walking through the halls, you’ll see personal items of the singer: archival photos, books, documents, and a collection of gramophone records. Among the most valuable exhibits is the piano Shalyapin received at the age of 12 as a reward for winning a music contest. The museum has another building, which houses the only “Russian Emigration” hall in southern Russia and an exhibition dedicated to writer Alexander Solzhenitsyn, an honorary citizen of Kislovodsk.
