A recognizable and beloved Caucasian dish across Russia. Chunks of meat are marinated and grilled on skewers, sometimes with fresh vegetables and onions. In Dagestan, shashlik is usually made from beef or lamb. Pork is not eaten in Dagestan for religious reasons.
