About
One of the main landmarks of the city.
The stone fortress from the 16th century is one of the 12 remaining kremlins in Russia.
Here you can walk along the four-meter thick walls and climb nine towers.
Inside, there are two cathedrals — the ornate Assumption Cathedral with golden domes and a seven-tiered iconostasis, and the Epiphany Cathedral with a museum exhibition.
The fortress also preserves 19th-century trade rows. In the museums, you can see collections of weapons, folk crafts, and the region’s main brands — samovars and pryaniki (gingerbread).
