About
One of the most photogenic and atmospheric monuments of ancient Chechen architecture. Two towers from the 10th–11th centuries stand in the Argun Gorge, at one of the oldest mountain passes. They are built directly into the Selin-Lam rock, which serves as their fourth wall. Their height is about 12 meters. According to historical chronicles, the towers were used as customs posts: merchants passing through the gorge paid tolls in wool, metal, or goods.
