About
A striking site that preserves the memory of history. Behind the wooden palisade and beneath the towering Sretensky Cathedral stands a replica of the original fortress that was built here 350 years ago. In the 19th century, participants of a failed uprising lived here — exiled to Siberia for rebelling against the tsar. Once settled, they contributed greatly to the development of Yalutorovsk, founding schools — including Siberia’s first girls' school.
