Yasnaya Polyana Estate Museum

About

The historic home of writer Leo Tolstoy.
Located 15 kilometers from Tula, the estate of Leo Tolstoy is where the great novelist spent much of his life and wrote "War and Peace" and "Anna Karenina."
The memorial house retains the original 1910 aristocratic furnishings, a birch alley, apple orchards, ponds, and parks, recreating the atmosphere of the 19th century.
The estate is surrounded by a 412-hectare nature reserve offering various routes for hiking, horseback riding, and bicycle tours.
Once a year, the estate hosts the "Tolstoy" theater festival, attracting thousands of spectators.
