Gnezdovo Archaeological Complex

The largest burial mound complex in Europe. 15 km west of central Smolensk, in Gnezdovo, lies a burial mound complex. Archaeological expeditions work here every year. In early August, a large historical reenactment festival, "Gnezdovo," is held here: play medieval board games, try Old Russian dishes at the tavern, feel like a brave warrior or Viking, and compete in the lists!
