National Theatre of the Altai Republic named after P. V. Kuchiyak

About

The republic’s leading stage, where Altai culture comes to life in its native language. Designed in the style of a traditional ail—the nomadic dwelling of the Altai people—the theatre blends ancient legends with world classics in its repertoire. Performances are staged in both Russian and the Altai language, featuring traditional throat singing and folk melodies. The theatre’s signature production is Cheynesh, based on the play by Pavel Kuchiyak, which premiered here in 1939 and remains one of its most celebrated performances. The P. V. Kuchiyak National Theatre welcomes international visitors. Before the performance, guests can receive an English-language synopsis, making it easy to follow the story regardless of language.
