A favorite recreation spot for locals Actually, it is not a sea, but the Novosibirsk Reservoir. On hot days, you can spend the whole day here: swimming, sunbathing, playing beach volleyball, paddleboarding, or going on a hike. For beach lovers, there are plenty of spots both within Novosibirsk and in the nearby city of Berdsk. You can rent paddleboards, boats, and even kites and surfboards — if you know how to use them. You can also take a one-day trip along the “Ordynskoe Ring” route — on your own or with a guide. Along the way, you will see the site of Khan Kuchum’s defeat, visit the local history museum in the settlement of Ordynskoe, and check out the Alley of Forgotten Villages: the names of the settlements flooded during the creation of the reservoir are preserved on stones along the path. In the settlement, there is a ferry crossing, which allows you to reach the Karakan Forest and the flooded marble quarry. There are two ferries along the route: fr om Spirino to Chingis and from Ordynskoe to Nizhnekamenka. Your choice depends on your planned route. The water journey takes about 40 minutes. It is better to check the ferry schedule in advance. In the village of Chingis, the Peter and Paul Church is notable — it was originally consecrated in 1756. Today, the Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul stands here, decorated not with paints but with local colored clay. Nearby, there is a cliff from which this clay was sourced. The palette contains 16 colors: shades of white, blue, green, and yellow. In Nizhnekamenka, you can walk along a rocky canyon to the Terty Kamen tract, and near Spirino, you can see a huge lime kiln — outdoors, so large you can even go inside. Marble Lake, located at the site of a quarry near Abrashino village, is notable for its bright turquoise color — just like in the tropics! Divers love it. Fishing is prohibited, although the lake is full of fish: silver carp, trout, and perch swim close to visitors in search of food. There are recreation bases on the shore wh ere you can spend the night.
