Located in the 18th-century Governor's House It is one of the oldest museums in northwestern Russia, founded in 1871. The museum has 24 halls with exhibits showcasing the history, nature, archaeology, and culture of Karelia. Here, you can see petroglyphs from the shores of Lake Onega, a model of Kizhi, exhibits from the Petrine era, explore the history of the Alexandrovsky factory, visit a 19th-century Karelian hut, and the ceremonial hall of the Noble Assembly. You can explore the exhibition independently, with an audio guide, or with a tour guide.
