“Rear to Front” Monument

See where Victory was forged. The monument depicts two figures — a worker and a soldier. It stands on the high bank of the Ural River and is one of the first large-scale monuments dedicated to those who worked on the home front during 1941–1945. This monument is the first part of a monumental sculptural triptych that also includes “The Motherland Calls!” in Volgograd and “The Warrior-Liberator” in Berlin. All three monuments are united by the symbol of a sword: it was forged in the Urals, raised in battle in Stalingrad, and lowered in the German capital.
