About
Opened in 1913 to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the dynasty The museum houses a collection where portraits of the nobility are displayed alongside avant-garde art. Here you can see works by Ivan Shishkin, Ilya Repin, Konstantin Korovin, Boris Kustodiev, Natalia Goncharova, and Robert Falk. The halls trace the path of Russian art from ancient Russian icons to 20th-century paintings. The museum building itself, constructed in pseudo-Russian style, is also of interest.
